Scholarship FAQ

• What is the Sea Notes Scholarship?

  The Sea Notes Choral Society awards $1,000 scholarships each year to high school seniors from Brunswick County, North Carolina. The scholarship supports students who have a strong background in music (vocal or instrumental) as they begin college, university, or technical school studies.

• Who is eligible to apply?

  Any student who both resides in and attends high school in Brunswick County, North Carolina, and plans to attend an accredited college, university, or technical school is eligible. The scholarship is open regardless of intended major, provided the applicant has demonstrated a clear commitment to music.

• How do I apply and what is the deadline?

  Complete the official 2026 Scholarship Application (including all music background and supplemental sections) and attach a copy of your high school transcript. If you have already been accepted to a college, include a copy of the acceptance letter. Submit everything to your music teacher or guidance counselor no later than **Monday, March 23, 2026**.

• How are winners selected?

  The Sea Notes Scholarship Committee reviews every application, selects finalists, and conducts interviews. The scholarship winner(s) are announced in May 2026.

• What should I include in my application to stand out?

  Highlight your music education, performance experience, competitive events, honors, and how music has influenced your academics and relationships. Also share any awards, extracurricular activities, community involvement, or other details that show your dedication to music and your future goals.
